Two. In Times of Invisible Enemies and Social Distancing, or How I Learned to Love the Box I Was In and Made It Work For Me!

These are certainly interesting times we are in. There are positives to this. It’s forcing us to slow down and look at life, reactions and what we can choose to do with our time when the world won’t allow us to do what we want to do. I had planned on a fabulous Springtime shoot complete with baby goats. You may have seen the promo shots and ads on the web, but alas, it’s been postponed. We are OK with that!

Photography is a very social activity and with the quarantines, has come social distancing. It has become a great reawakening for many photographers. Some of my friends are focusing on Macros photography and others on photographing their family and children and others taking their original works and learning new photo editing skills! With the nudging of my Dad in Ontario and my friend Stephanie on Long Island, I decided that I needed to exercise and get out and still maintain social distancing and take my camera, thus, Porch Portraits was born.

It looks like we will still be in social distancing mode for quite sometime so don’t fear if you’d like to have this done and think you may have missed your opportunity! Let me tell you a little about the process. With the studio closed it made me sad in my heart not to be working with families. With Porch Portraits, I am again able to work to make the memories for families that otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to all be together in the same place under everyday circumstances! What a better time than to catch everyone AT HOME! I had heard negative feedback in taking on this passion project, but let me assure you that I most certainly am not putting myself nor your family in jeopardy.

I certainly maintain my distance! The photos below were sent to me from clients who’s neighbors sent them the photos :)

So like I said earlier, we will be in this for at least another two weeks so if you are in Anchorage, I would be happy to plan a healthy outing and stop at the end of your drive and create your Porch Portraits.

à tout à l'heure!
